There is more than one way to get an organic top 10 result in Google. Expensive SEO consultants are one way, but they are, well, EXPENSIVE! There is a SEO company in Houston that advertises their prices at between $1000 and $100,000. Now there is no doubt that you get a lot from a company when you shell out 100 grand. But lets be realistic, few companies can afford large, major SEO firms and their pricy invoice. And I can tell you, once they are done, they are going to be ready to do it again or charge you expensive ongoing maintenance fees. And the ONLY thing they did was optimize your site, nothing else. Other than organic results, the only other way to get on the first page of a Google search for your key phrase is to pay for it. That is called Google Adwords, those ads on the right side of the Google results page pictured here.
To give you an idea of these costs, let me give you an example. A current client has a key phrase we are ranking for that if he bought that key phrase, it would cost them roughly $3.78 per click if their ad was on the first page of results.
Our analysis tells us that if we achieve a top 10 result for this key phrase, and provided their result in Google looks compelling to the person searching, they would get about 30 click throughs each day. That's 30 more visitors to their web site every day. Based upon the cost of those click throughs, if they were paying for them with Google Adwords, it would cost them about $113 a day. In a month, they would be looking at over $3,000.
